Literary Analysis

Interests

When it comes to academia, I find myself writing through a feminist lens more often than not. The ways in which women are viewed and interpreted in literature and beyond still proves to be a rich area of study. From the ecofeminism in The Crying of Lot 49 to the legitimacy of a woman's diary as a form of literature, my aim is to demystify the beliefs and commonly held stereotypes to more deeply understand the messy, beautiful experience of being a woman.

Thesis

I'm just about to embark on my next project: my MA thesis in English literature. While discussions of trauma in Virginia Woolf's novels often center around shell-shocked soldiers like Septimus Smith in Mrs. Dalloway, there's a much larger group of people struggling from trauma: Woolf's women. By analyzing the rhetoric of trauma in concert with the presentation of, say, Rhoda in The Waves, I'll be presenting a new critical lens through which to view several of Woolf's classic novels.
